Railway Transport

Complete rail transport solutions

Our offer includes complete rail transport solutions, tailored to the safety and security needs of goods in transit. With an extensive network of partners and rail connections worldwide, we have the ability to deliver and provide complete services, regardless of the volume and nature of the goods, anywhere in the world.

We are specialized in the transportation of bulky and heavy goods, offering a variety of rail transportation options, including standard freight cars, specialized cars (such as tank cars and reefer cars), and groupage services for smaller or less urgent goods.

Dedicated and trained staff

Our dedicated and trained team handles the loading, handling and unloading of goods, and our trusted partners ensure that the transport is carried out in maximum safety conditions from the moment the goods are picked up until their arrival at their destination.

We also offer real-time tracking and monitoring services for shipments, to keep you up to date with the progress of your rail transport.

Conventional Rail Transport

Conventional transport involves loading goods directly into railcars, each with its own characteristics (covered wagons, tank cars, open wagons, etc.). This type of transport is suitable for companies that need to ship large quantities of homogeneous goods (e.g., grains, coal, ores, petroleum products, chemicals, construction materials, etc.).

  • Advantages: the ability to transport large volumes, relatively low cost per ton-kilometer, good reliability.

  • Disadvantages: loading and unloading times can sometimes be longer, requires appropriate infrastructure (ramps, cranes, loading-unloading stations).

Intermodal Transport

(Combined or Multimodal)
Intermodal transport (also called combined transport) involves the use of containers and other standardized transport units (STUs), which can be easily transferred between different modes of transport (truck, train, ship).
Advantages: reduces direct handling of goods (thus minimizing the risk of damage or loss), shortens transfer times between modes, lower labor costs.
Disadvantages: requires specific infrastructure (container terminals, cranes, lifting equipment), may be less suitable for bulk or oversized goods.

Block Train Rail Transport

A block train is a train where all railcars are intended for a single customer and/or a single destination. It usually consists of dozens of railcars loaded with a single type of goods, transported from an origin terminal to a destination terminal without the need to rearrange the wagons along the route.

  • Advantages: shorter transit time (no intermediate shunting operations), lower cost per ton at high volumes, simplified tracking.
Disadvantages: only cost-effective if the volume of goods is large enough to fill the entire train.

Single Wagon Load (Rail Grouping)

When freight volumes do not justify a full block train, the single wagon load or rail grouping solution can be used. Essentially, a shipper rents one or more railcars in a consolidated train, which carries wagons loaded with goods belonging to multiple clients, headed for different destinations.

  • Advantages: flexible for smaller quantities, lower costs per shipper compared to renting an entire block train.
Disadvantages: potentially longer transit time, wagons may be sorted and reattached to other trains at different railway hubs.
